Visiting Jasna Góra allows you to obtain a plenary indulgence.
When can you gain the indulgence?
You can gain an indulgence on the indulgence feast day, on every liturgical feast in honor of the Mother of God, once a year at any time as an individual pilgrim, and whenever you arrive with a group of pilgrims.
For whom can you offer the indulgence?
You can offer the indulgence for yourself or for the souls suffering in purgatory.
What conditions must be fulfilled?
To obtain a plenary indulgence, you must visit the Jasna Góra sanctuary and spend an appropriate amount of time in prayer, reciting the Our Father, the Creed, and a chosen prayer to the Mother of God for the intentions of the faithfulness of Poland to its Christian vocation, for new priestly and religious vocations, and for the defense of the institution of the family. You must also receive the sacrament of penance, receive Holy Communion, and pray for the intentions designated by the Holy Father.
Who can gain the indulgence outside of Jasna Góra?
Outside of Jasna Góra, indulgences can be gained by the sick, the elderly, or others who, for serious reasons, cannot leave their homes to visit the Jasna Góra sanctuary. They should recite the above-mentioned prayers in front of an image of Our Lady of Częstochowa, spiritually joining the pilgrims praying at Jasna Góra and offering their prayers and sufferings to the merciful God through Mary.
